Here is a request from the owner of a Mercedes-Benz G63. The owner of this G63 would like to change the original 20-inch wheels to new custom Icon 22-inch wheels. But there is an essential problem: the vehicle hub bolt pattern is 5×130 and the new Icon wheels come with a 5×112 bolt pattern. In this case, these Icon wheels can not be mounted on the G63 properly. Installing wheel adapters can make a PCD conversion to keep the 5×112 wheels attached to 5×130 hub firmly.

Custom Made 5×130 to 5×112 Wheel Adapters

One of the common uses for wheel adapters is PCD conversion. As an example, the G63 can also be mounted with wheels that are made with different bolt patterns. The Mercedes-Benz G63 has a 5×130 bolt pattern. People will put a wheel adapter on the G63 that has a 5×130 bolt pattern on the hub side (that will fasten with the matching lug bolts) and the wheel mounting side of the adapter will have matching inner lug nuts on it in a 5×112 bolt pattern. This allows 5×112 custom aftermarket wheels to be attached on a 5×130 G63. Wheel adapters are usually thicker that are built with their own lug nuts. The adapters lug bolts to the OEM vehicle hub, then the wheel is secured to the lug nuts on the adapter with the stock wheel bolts. Two sets of bolts pattern hold the adapter in place.


How does wheel size affect the performance?

Wheel size not only affects the power performance of the car but also affects the stability, comfort level and corner.
